The golden retriever is a beautiful breed both in looks and temperament. They are also very clever and need regular grooming, exercise and care. They also need to be trained, either formally in a class or by yourselves at home.

Their hair is their 'crowning glory' but it does 'mop up' dirt and you need to be prepared for this. They soon learn to wait whilst their feet are wiped before coming into the house or to stand whilst they are showered (although they might not like it much)
