Many thanks go to Eilish and Jimmy King for allowing us to have Rain. We were overjoyed to be allowed to choose this lovely bitch from their litter. She is a granddaughter of our Dexter (Motlaisa Commander-in-Chief at Gaytonwood) and so is very special to us.
She started her show career by refusing to walk on a lead which had its challenges, but she decided to get her act together just in time for her first Championship Show at Manchester were she gained a very creditable 5th place out of a quality class of 34 Minor Puppy bitches. Many thanks to Jackie Sparrow (Scarholme) for this placing.
She had a number of placings in her puppy career but after a profuse puppy coat she never grew enough to make it worth showing her. She broke a front tooth playing in the garden and so that ended her show career. My attempt at getting her to pick up game ended at home with me struggling to take a partridge out of her mouth before she swallowed it whole!!!! I didn't take her on a shoot after that episode.
She had a lovely litter of 12 to Flynn, which just happened to be his last litter, not that we knew that at the time. I didn't keep one as I always thought I could repeat that mating again - if only we could see into the future!!!
I have mated Rain to my Thierry and if all goes well puppies should be due in early July. She is confirmed in whelp so we're just waiting now. Gaytonwood Ellie stayed with us from this litter.
