Here are the Diary details for 2009
29th December - Again we had another trial - getting better every time. 26th December - Wren picked her first shot bird and a runner - there's no stopping her now. 19th December - Dave brought Wren to give her some experience picking up. Held a bird I gave her but wouldn't pick one up off the ground. 14th November - My 2nd Trial with Briar no awards but feeling better!!! 23rd October - Picking up starts - Hurrah!!!! 21st October - I ran Briar in her first Field Trial which was organised by the GRC in Wiltshire. She was steady through the drive and handled well. I was very nervous but hope to improve in future. 16th October - Berry has her puppies by Jeff. 6th September - Jimmy Choo comes to live at Gaytonwood. 29th August - I have chosen Jimmy Choo from Wren's litter and he will come here in the next couple of weeks. 19th August - Czecher has headed up to Scotland to live with his auntie Roma and the Campbell family where he will be learning to be a gundog and seek out the muddiest puddles!!! 9th August - We went up to Northumbria for the GRCN AV Puppy Test. We went to challenge Briar's sister Ash and brother Chance and their owners. Briar and her sister Ash both made the last 4 and ran off for 1st place. I was absolutely delighted that Briar won the test, narrowly beating her sister handled by Bob Stobbart, her owner. To make the day complete Jen Hay, Briar's breeder won the Novice test with her full sister from a previous mating. Thanks must go the the judges Anne Crookes, Alan Richardson and Sharon Richardson and of course as ever to Gaynor for her training, help and advice. It was great not only thrashing Bob but all the Labradors!!! 8th August - Eastern Counties GRC Special Puppy Test - Briar was awarded a 5th by Judge Mr G Leech. 2nd August - At the Golden Retriever Club puppy test Briar not only showed she wasn't tired but also that she had learned to mark well and won the test on the run off. Judges were Mrs S Searle, Mr P Allen, Mr R Ketley and Mr M Brace. 31st July - 1st August - Briar and I spent a couple of days training in Northumbria. She learnt a lot and became very steady in the walk up, even though she was tempted by grouse, pheasants, partridge and lots of rabbit. On the first day she did 'run in' after a cocker spaniel as she thought that was having too much fun!!! After that she settled and did really well for her age and experience. I took a little longer to settle but eventually got it together and started to think about what I was doing. (The telling off from George probably helped!!!) 21st July - Sugar whelped 8 pups to Sh Ch Ronjalee Rag Trade JW. 19th July - Wren whelped 11 pups to Ch Chinnordale Kirriebillie JW !! Hopefully a boy will come back to us at Gaytonwood. 29th June - Zinq was placed VHC at Border Union by Val Burns (Abnalls) and we spent the following two days in Scotland at Drumlandrigg Castle watching the Interclub Working Test and training our dogs. 5th June - At Southern Counties Zinq got a 4th in Post Graduate Dog from Lyn Walker (Gloi) 8th May - At Birmingham National Wren was placed 3rd in Yearling Bitch thanks to Heather Morss (Xanthos) 5th April - Czecher was awarded 5th in Minor Puppy at Yorkshire GRC by Lynne Hennessey (Ritzilyn) 7th March - Crufts 2009 - Wren was placed 2nd in Undergraduate bitch, first time Dave had qualified a dog for Crufts and he enjoyed watching her in the big ring and I really enjoyed showing her!!! Enormous thanks to Jim Richardson (Darrachonna) for making Dave's first Crufts as an exhibitor such a memorable one. See photo's of her on the day 1st March - Czecher was placed 5th in Minor Puppy at Coventry and District Gundog Society Open Show by Judith Dawe (Kensalroag) 22nd February - At Southern Golden Retriever Society Championship Show Wren was placed 3rd in Undergraduate Bitch by Pat Cooper (Goldsmill). Thank you Pat. Also the last of Ellie's puppies went to their new homes today.
